Who Operates This
BareVid ("the App") and this website are operated by PonkoTools ("we", "us"), an independent developer.
- Contact for questions and requests: [email protected]
If you need the operator's name and postal address for a legal request — including a request under Article 32 of Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information — ask at the address above and we will provide it without undue delay.
Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains what information the App and this website handle, and how it is used.
The App performs all video editing on your device. Separately, the App includes an advertising SDK, and that SDK does send information. The two are described separately below.
Information We Collect
The Video Editing Features
Your video data, captions, and saved settings are never sent anywhere. They are processed and stored only on your device. We run no servers, so we have no means of receiving them.
How Imported Videos Are Stored
When you select a video to edit, the App keeps a working copy in its private storage on the device. This copy:
- Is not uploaded anywhere — all processing happens on the device.
- Is excluded from iCloud and Google account backups, so editing large videos does not consume your cloud storage quota.
- Is deleted automatically when you delete the corresponding saved settings, or when you uninstall the App. The original video in your gallery is never touched.
What the Advertising SDK Sends
The App uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob collects advertising and other device identifiers (as available and permitted by your device settings), your IP address (used to estimate approximate location), app interactions, and diagnostic information, for ad delivery, personalization, measurement, and fraud prevention. For details, please refer to Google's Privacy Policy.
This information may also go to advertising technology partners taking part in ad delivery, not to Google alone. The current list of partners and their policies can be seen from the App's consent screen (Settings → Privacy options).
Apart from what the advertising SDK sends, the App sends nothing anywhere.
Your Choices About Ads
Where consent is required, the App asks for it using Google's User Messaging Platform (it checks on every launch and shows the screen when one is needed). The screen lets you decide per purpose and per partner, and you can change or withdraw your choice at any time from Settings → Privacy options, which appears whenever this choice applies to you. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
This is not a choice about whether ads appear. If you do not consent, ads are still requested, and you may see non-personalized ads, ads with limited functionality, or no ad at all. Your IP address is still used to deliver those requests, even without consent.
What your choice changes is mainly this:
| With consent | Without consent | |
|---|---|---|
| Ad personalization | Yes | No |
| Storing information on your device | Within what you consented to | Not where consent is required |
| Requesting and delivering ads, use of IP address | Yes | Yes |
| Fraud prevention and security | Yes | Yes |
Separately, the advertising identifier itself can be deleted or reset in your device settings (the exact steps vary by operating system and version).
If You Contact Us
If you email the address above, we receive and keep your email address and the content of your message in order to respond. Delivery goes through Cloudflare's email routing service and Google's mail service.
How Long Information Is Kept
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| Data on your device (working copies, thumbnails, saved settings) | Until you delete it or uninstall the App. We keep nothing. |
| Advertising information | Per the retention policies of Google and each advertising partner. We keep nothing. |
| Your correspondence with us | As long as needed to handle your enquiry, then deleted (we cannot guarantee erasure from those services' own backups). |
How We Protect It
The only thing we hold is your correspondence. We handle it in a mail service with access controls, keep it visible to no one but us, and delete it after the period above.
We do not hold advertising information. It is handled by Google and the advertising partners under their own controls.
Deleting Information
- Data on your device: delete the saved settings in the App, or uninstall the App. Working copies are removed automatically in either case.
- Advertising information: the advertising identifier can be deleted or reset in your device settings, as described above. For information held by Google, follow the procedures in Google's Privacy Policy.
- Your correspondence: ask at our contact address.
Your Rights
Wherever you live, you may ask us — at the contact address above — to access, correct, or delete information we hold about you.
If You Are in the EU / EEA or the UK (GDPR)
- Controller: PonkoTools (contact details above)
- Legal bases for processing:
- Ad personalization, and storing information on your device — your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time.
- Requesting and delivering ads at all, including the use of your IP address to do so — legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): earning the revenue that lets us offer the App free of charge.
- Preventing fraudulent ad activity and keeping the service secure — legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)).
- Responding to your enquiries — legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)).
- Recipients: Google, advertising technology partners taking part in ad delivery, and Cloudflare (site delivery and email routing).
- International transfers: those providers may transfer data outside the EU / UK, including to the United States. The safeguards relied on are set by each provider; see their policies for details.
- Your rights: access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection to processing, data portability, and withdrawal of consent.
- Complaints: you have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your country (in the UK, the ICO).
If You Are in Japan (Act on the Protection of Personal Information)
- Business handling personal information: PonkoTools (the operator's name and address are provided on request at the address above)
- Purposes of use: ad delivery, personalization, measurement and fraud prevention; and responding to enquiries
- Provision to third parties: information may be provided to the advertising providers named above as part of ad delivery
- Security measures: as described under "How We Protect It" above
- Requests: requests for notification of purpose of use, disclosure, correction, suspension of use, erasure, or disclosure of third-party provision records are handled at the contact address above
Children
The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
However, the App does not verify age, so if a child under 13 uses it, the advertising SDK still sends the information described above. The only data about a child under 13 that we are able to delete is correspondence we hold; for information held by advertising providers, we will point you to their own deletion procedures. Please contact us at the address above if you believe this applies to you.
